THE DETROIT FANFARE AND MY LIVE SKETCH SHOW COMETH!

Two cool things happening this week that you'll want to check out...

First up, my Live Sketch Show returns this Wednesday, September 21st, at 8 pm eastern time, which you can visit at the link. Riding on the success of the last show's theme, this week is a continuation of animated Disney characters, so come prepared to offer your favorites from Disney's TV and movies as suggestions. If you're unfamiliar with my online show, you can talk to me via Ustream's chat window. You need to log in to Ustream to use the window, but registering is easy. It only takes a username and an email address. Once you've entered that info, you can chat with me and suggest characters to be drawn. Just like always, I'll have loads of useless trivia and my own brand of quirky humor to inject (or infect) into each sketch I create!

But the BIG thing going down this week is Detroit Fanfare, Michigan's biggest and most comic-centric comic con, which lands this September 24th and 25th at Cobo Hall in downtown Detroit. For the second year running I'll have a table there, where I'll be selling copies of my sketchbook and Dead Duck graphic novel, as well as taking commissions, selling original art, and unveiling some new prints exclusive to Fanfare! Saturday night after the con is The Shel Dorf Awards, which is a ceremony celebrating those in the field of comics. I'm nominated for two categories--best letterer, and best kid's comic, both for my work on Little Green Men. I'm also a presenter for the Best Syndicated Print Strip of the Year category! So check out the link for info on the awards, and come if you can. It's going to be a blast!

I wouldn't be much of a cartoonist if I posted this entry without an illustration. So here's a sneak preview of my new Dead Duck story that I'm working on--and I do mean SNEAK...
 Intrigued much?

Hope to hear from you on Wednesday's show, and this weekend at Detroit Fanfare!

A wolverine invades buckeye territory...

No, this has nothing to do with college football (though when it comes to Ohio and Michigan, everything seems to come down to college football). I'm just giving the heads up that I'll be at the Cincinnati Comic Expo this Saturday, Sept. 17th. So, if you're from the area or are inclined to make the trip, I'll be at my table with comics and commissions for anyone who wants 'em!

Lastly, my Live Sketch Show returns next Wednesday, Sept. 21st at 8 pm eastern time. The last show was a blast. It had a great turn out, and the theme--Disney animated characters--was a popular one. So I'm bringing the theme back for the next show. And as always, I encourage you to contact me during the show via Ustream's chat window. I'll post another update by next Tuesday. Hope to see you there!

WANNA SEE ME?!

This is a busy few weeks coming up for me, but there's plenty of opportunities for me to meet some of my friends and fans in the course of the mayhem! If I've piqued your interest, check this out:

09/07/11: My Live Sketch Show will be back on the air Wednesday night at 8 pm (click on the link to check it out). This week's theme is Disney characters, so that should give people a wide selection to choose from. And as ever, I encourage you to contact me during the show via Ustream's chat window.

09/11/11: I will be giving a presentation about my art and career at the down town branch of the Ann Arbor Library on Sunday from 1-3 pm. It will start with a power point presentation, followed by a Q and A session, and I'll do some live sketches to round out the event. Click on this link for more information. Hope to see you there!

09/17/11: I'll have a table at The Cincinnati Comic Expo, which is a one-day comic con. I'll have prints, sketchbooks, and copies of Dead Duck for sale. So if you're in the area, come on over and say hi!

09/24/11-09/25/11: I'll be appearing at the Detroit Fanfare comic con on these two days, and will have everything I mentioned for the Cincinnati show, plus I'll be unveiling a couple new prints. Saturday night I'll be at The Shel Dorf Awards--an event hosted by Fanfare-- as a nominee for best kid's comic and best letterer (Little Green Men). Fans can purchase tickets and hang out with the nominees, so visit Fanfare's website and see about reserving a spot. I hope to see you guys there!

So that's pretty much my appearance schedule for the rest of the month. It would be great to see any of you at any of these events. But if I miss you, there's always next time. Take care, and I'll have more news to report soon!
